Science union fears contract changes will be ‘waved through’

German Education and Science Union says current legislative draft favours employers’ interests

The German Education and Science Union (GEW) has warned the federal government against introducing planned amendments to the Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act without substantial improvements.

The existing law, WissZeitVG, is the reason for the preponderance of fixed-term contracts in mid-career academia and has been under review by the federal government.
