Academics demand greater flexibility and less bureaucracy

Head of German lecturers association supports different approaches to managing research

The German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV) has praised the flexibility and openness of scientific organisations and warned against changing to more rigid, standardised systems.

In a speech at the association’s annual meeting in Berlin, DHV president Lambert Koch (pictured) said it was important to maintain the autonomy that universities enjoy as well as a diverse range of organisational structures and approaches. “Plurality is not a weakness, but a strength,” he said.
