Lecturers’ support for pro-Palestinian protests sparks row

Media coverage of German lecturers’ stance is criticised by academic institutions

Academic organisations have criticised the media’s portrayal of an open letter from lecturers supporting pro-Palestinian student protests in Berlin.

The letter, signed by more than 350 Berlin-based lecturers as well as 1,000 additional supporters, defended students’ right to protest, including by occupying university grounds, after some protests about the Israeli government attacks on Gaza were broken up by authorities.
