Germany leads race for Horizon 2020 funding

Germany, the UK and Spain have had the most success in Horizon 2020 since the start of the programme this year, according to the Spanish government.

Germany has achieved the largest number of successful proposals in Horizon 2020, said a statement released on 30 October by the Spanish ministry of economy and competitiveness. Since the first round of calls German research teams have submitted almost 6,000 proposals, out of which 932 have been chosen for funding.

Germany is also the leading country by volume of funding obtained through Horizon 2020, winning a total of €368 million. The UK meanwhile ranks second, having won €309m to support 810 projects.
