Swiss hope fades on solution for Horizon 2020

Research institutions in Switzerland are losing hope of a second referendum on immigration that would allow the country to take part in Horizon 2020 beyond 2017.

Attendees at an event on 12 May, organised by SwissCore, the liaison office of the Swiss National Science Foundation in Brussels, said that time was running out for the country to regain full access to the programme.

The participation of Swiss researchers has been limited since the country voted in a referendum in February 2014 to curb immigration to the country, which goes against a condition of their association to Horizon 2020.
