Applications for the latest call of the European Research Council’s Consolidator Grants increased by 12 per cent compared with the previous round, despite a reduction in the funding available.
The ERC has said it received 2,304 applications for the most recent Consolidator Grant call, which closed on 2 February.
A total of €605 million has been earmarked in its 2016 work programme, for an estimated 335 grants. This is down from the level in 2015, when €713m was awarded to 372 winners. The overall success rate of the 2015 call was 15 per cent.
