EU recognition given to Norwegian research infrastructure

The European Commission has granted the legal status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium to two Norwegian initiatives.

The decision, which was announced on 9 June, represents the first time that infrastructure initiatives outside the EU have been granted Eric status.

One of the Norwegian Erics, the European Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage Laboratory, will facilitate experiments to develop techniques for capturing, transporting and storing carbon dioxide. The project, based in Trondheim, has received €6 million of EU funding so far.
