Framework 9 proposal delayed

The European Commission has delayed the launch of its proposal for the next research Framework programme, and has warned that the launch of the programme itself could also slip.

Speaking at an event in Brussels last week, the Commission’s director-general for research, Robert-Jan Smits, said the launch of the proposal for Framework 9 had been pushed back from this year to next summer, the news website Science Business has reported.

Kurt Vandenberghe, another Commission official who spoke at a different event on the same day, said that a consultation on Framework 9 would now open in January or February 2018, with an impact assessment in the spring of next year, according to the report.
