The European Parliament’s Committee on Budgets has confirmed its priorities for the 2021-27 EU budget, including much more funding for R&D and education than the European Commission has proposed.
The committee confirmed that it wants the EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme Horizon Europe to have a budget of €135.2 billion in inflation-adjusted prices, which is €120bn in 2018 prices. The Commission has proposed a budget of €94.1bn in adjusted prices, which the Parliament says is just €83.5bn in 2018 prices.
Horizon 2020, the EU R&D programme for 2014-20, has a budget of €63.7bn in adjusted prices and €64.7bn in 2018 prices, according to the Parliament.
