The European Research Council has opened nominations for academics to join its governing Scientific Council, which sets its funding strategy and methods.
The Scientific Council must be capable of “authoritative and absolutely independent scientific leadership, combining wisdom and experience with vision and imagination”, the European Commission said in a statement published on 7 December. Its members must represent the breadth of the research endeavour, and have “an appropriate gender balance”.
“I look forward to seeing new candidates nominated for these prominent posts, particularly women,” research commissioner Carlos Moedas said.
