European Parliament set to aim high in negotiations on EU’s 2020 R&D budget

The European Parliament’s Committee on Budgets is seeking to increase the spending power of the EU’s Horizon 2020 R&D programme by more than €1 billion in its final year.

A spokesperson for the Parliament told Research Professional News that an agreement reached on 2 October would seek to add €738 million to the 2020 budget proposed for the programme by the European Commission, as well as pulling in a further €281m through redeployment of unused funds.
