Approval by MEPs confirms 8.8 per cent budget rise for final year of Horizon 2020

The European Parliament has given the green light to the 2020 EU budget deal, as expected following formal approval from the Council of the EU on 25 November. The two bodies reached a provisional agreement last week.

The deal will raise funding for the EU’s Horizon 2020 R&D programme to €13.5 billion in 2020—an 8.8 per cent increase on 2019 and €302 million more than the European Commission proposed.
