Commission push could boost role of institutes and students in fight against climate change
University sector heads have welcomed an apparent emphasis on research and higher education in the European Commission’s highly anticipated proposal to tackle climate change.
New European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen will officially unveil her European Green Deal on 11 December. A leaked version of the deal published by the news site Euractiv has a strong emphasis on the role of research, including mentions of the forthcoming Horizon Europe R&D programme and the Erasmus+ student mobility programme.
