The European Research Council and the Australian Research Council have agreed that ARC-funded researchers should be able to work with ERC-supported teams for short periods.
An agreement between the two funders was signed on 13 February. It follows a similar deal with the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council that was signed last year.
The agreement does not change the eligibility of researchers based in Australia for ERC grants. Researchers from anywhere in the world can apply, as long as they spend at least half of their grant period working in an EU country or a country with full association to the EU’s R&D programme. So far 48 Australian researchers based in Europe have won ERC grants.
