The EU has announced a record number of applications to its 2019 calls for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships for researchers.

A total of 9,875 proposals were received for three Individual Fellowship calls that closed on 11 September, the Research Executive Agency tasked with evaluating and awarding the grants announced. This is “a small increase” on 2018, it said.

Applicants are competing for a share of €300 million in funding. Of this, €6m is earmarked for widening fellowships that will support researchers in moving to countries that are relative underperformers in EU research and innovation.
