European Joint Programme on Soil intended to create a research community and overcome fragmentation

An €80-million European research programme on soil has been set up, involving 26 partners from 24 countries. The aim is to create a research community on agricultural soil management that can contribute to food security and climate change mitigation.

Launched on 26 February, the European Joint Programme on Soil has been allocated €40m from the EU’s Horizon 2020 R&D programme, with the other half of the funding coming from participating organisations.
