EU advisers: ‘integrate science diplomacy into Horizon Europe’

Opportunities for diplomacy abound in the EU’s next R&D programme, advisers say

Science should feature more prominently in the EU’s diplomatic efforts, including through the bloc’s 2021-27 R&D programme Horizon Europe and the creation of a dedicated platform, conference and award, a group of advisers has recommended.

“Science diplomacy is often not fully exploited at all levels of governance, and especially at supranational levels,” the Strategic Forum for International Science and Technology Cooperation of the European Research Area Committee said in a paper published on 3 March.
