Germany and UK win big from 2019 ERC Advanced Grants

Funder allocates €450 million to 185 winners

Germany and the UK led the pack of 20 countries that will host winners of the European Research Council’s 2019 Advanced Grants, which are worth up to €3.5 million each.

The ERC announced on 31 March that 185 winners of 26 nationalities will share €450m, up from the €391m for an estimated 166 winners set out in its 2019 work programme. Of these, 35 will spend at least half their time in Germany, 34 in the UK and 21 in France.
