President Mauro Ferrari displayed a lack of understanding and engagement, council says

The group of 19 scientists that helps govern the EU’s flagship European Research Council has said it demanded the shock resignation of ERC president Mauro Ferrari, who quit the post after just three months on 7 April.

In a statement published by the ERC, the council said Ferrari (pictured) “displayed a complete lack of appreciation for the raison d’être of the ERC to support excellent frontier science, designed and implemented by the best researchers in Europe”.
