Pushback against Mauro Ferrari continues after his stormy departure from European Research Council
The European Commission has said it cannot not yet give a timeframe for filling the vacuum in leadership at the European Research Council, following the explosive and apparently forced resignation of Mauro Ferrari after just over three months in the role.
On 20 April, the Commission told Research Europe it could not say when it would name a vice president from the ERC’s governing Scientific Council to take on the president’s duties on an interim basis. Nor could it say when it would appoint a committee to find a permanent replacement for Ferrari (pictured) at the top of its most important research funder or when that replacement would be in place.
