Council president seeks to cut €5bn from next EU R&D programme’s proposed budget
A plan to cut €5 billion from the proposed budget of the EU’s next R&D programme, Horizon Europe, has provoked concern and anger among politicians and research leaders.
In an attempt to resolve gridlock among member states ahead of a meeting of the European Council this week, Charles Michel, the president of the group of national leaders, said on 10 July that Horizon Europe should get €89.4bn in 2018 prices for the 2021-27 period.
