Top European Commission official says more scope being sought to exclude countries from funding calls

The EU is planning to give itself more flexibility to exclude non-EU countries from participating in sensitive areas of its next R&D programme, Horizon Europe, the head of the European Commission research department has said.

Jean-Eric Paquet (pictured) said at a conference organised by Science Business on 8 September that the EU has yet to decide exactly which Horizon Europe instruments, and which countries, this increased flexibility will apply to.
