Societal context neglected in EU R&D budget, says affected group

EU leaders asked to ‘address huge imbalance’ in funding by increasing allocations for social sciences

A group representing social sciences and humanities research has called on the EU to increase funding for these fields in the bloc’s 2021-27 R&D programme, Horizon Europe, warning of a “huge imbalance” in planned funding allocations.

The European Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities said on 4 September that its members “are deeply concerned Horizon Europe risks developing only partial solutions if the huge imbalance in research funding is not addressed”.
