Responsibility for implementing parts of EU R&D programme will be split thematically among executive agencies
The European Commission is dividing responsibility for implementing the EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme, Horizon Europe, thematically among a suite of executive agencies—legally separate entities controlled by the Commission—including one that is being newly created.
Formalising its plans on 12 February, the Commission allocated responsibility for the ‘health’ and ‘digital, industry and space’ clusters of Horizon Europe to the new European Health and Digital Executive Agency, which will also deliver the EU’s dedicated new standalone programmes on health and digital.
