Ariel University denies claim it hosted project event and says allegations are politically motivated
The European Commission will examine allegations that researchers based at Ariel University—located in land administered by Israel that the UN designates as occupied Palestinian territory—are involved in two EU-funded R&D projects in ways that would breach the bloc’s guidelines.
More than 500 academics have signed a petition launched in March that expressed “grave concern” about “the ongoing failure” of the EU to ensure that its R&D programmes are “not used to legitimise or otherwise sustain the establishment and the activities of Israeli academic institutions in illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory”.
