Commission corrects Horizon Europe open-access guidance

Original document incorrectly stated that EU R&D programme would allow embargoes on open-access papers

The European Commission has had to correct a guide for researchers funded via the EU’s Horizon Europe programme, to remove a statement that clashed with a major open-access initiative it is supporting.

The original guide, published on 17 June, stated that any papers produced from EU funding must be made open access but that this could be after a delay via the ‘green’ route, in which a paywalled journal paper is followed with a mirror publication in an open outlet such as an institutional repository.
