Commission asked to monitor unequal participation in Horizon

Council of EU backs Court of Auditors recommendation

The EU’s member state governments have asked the European Commission to monitor their countries’ participation in the bloc’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, after auditors warned of inequalities.

Since 2014, the EU R&I programme has included ‘widening’ funding to support lagging performers—currently 15 countries including the 13 that joined the bloc since 2004.
