RePowerEU energy-autonomy initiative is centre stage amid climate change and war in Ukraine

Research commissioner Mariya Gabriel has stressed that the EU’s major plans for energy autonomy will be linked to the bloc’s research and academic mobility programmes.

Commission president Ursula von der Leyen is due to set out details of the RePowerEU initiative later today, including moves to advance European hydrogen power—which the EU views as key to tackling climate change and energy independence.
