Adoption of European Parliament stance sets up three weeks of negotiations with Council of EU

The European Parliament has swung its full weight behind a push to increase the 2024 budgets for the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme and its Erasmus+ academic mobility programme.

On 18 October, the Parliament voted by 424 in favour to 101 against to push for Horizon Europe to have a budget of €140 million more than the European Commission proposal of €12.8 billion, rather than the €166m less being sought by the Council of the EU member state governments.
