EU call will co-fund doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships

The EU’s Marie Sklowdowska-Curie Actions funding scheme, which funds researchers at all career stages through various instruments, has opened a €96.6 million call for co-funding doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships.

Organisations in an EU member state or a country associated to the bloc’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, which the MSCA is part of, can apply until 8 February next year. Organisations elsewhere may join projects as associated partners.

Doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers at universities and research organisations will be able to access the support.

The scheme “gives organisations a unique opportunity to attract talent through their own doctoral and postdoctoral fellowship programmes”, the European Commission said.

It is also intended to spread “best practices by promoting high standards and excellent working and employment conditions”.

Bids for any research discipline will be considered but schemes that would benefit from funding synergies with EU cohesion policy funds and Covid-19 recovery funds are strongly encouraged.
