Diversity is essential to research, hears ERC conference

Speakers at European Research Council event agree there has been a paradigm shift towards diversity

Researchers should consider diversity in their projects to avoid overlooking potentially relevant inputs and aspects, a European Research Council conference on diversity has heard.

“If not diverse, research then is only poor and lazy. So, of course diversity matters, because we want to have good, sound research,” Ana Cristina Santos, principal researcher at the University of Coimbra in Portugal, said in a roundtable discussion at the event on 28 November.
