EU governments mull 13.5% cut to Horizon Europe

Leaked presidency text suggests across-the-board cuts for national politicians to consider

Member state governments are considering pushing for a 13.5 per cent cut to programme budgets in the second half of the EU’s 2021-27 multi-annual budget, including the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme and the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme.

The EU’s political institutions are reviewing the current Multiannual Financial Framework, with the European Commission pushing for increases to fund priorities including the creation of a new fund for strategic technologies.
