Scheme under discussion could be piloted in 2025-27 to trial more permanent support
The European Commission is developing recommendations to better support research and innovation at universities, including by piloting a potential new EU funding mechanism in 2025-27.
A need to develop research excellence at universities was agreed by the Commission and EU member states in 2021 as part of the European Research Area policy agenda for raising research standards.
