Two sides could start formal negotiation on Switzerland’s participation in EU R&D programme this year
Technical talks on Switzerland joining Horizon Europe could start by the end of the year, with political engagement between the two sides having intensified.
Despite taking part in past EU research and innovation programmes, Switzerland was blocked from associating to the current one after its government walked away from talks on a broader relationship agreement in 2021. But a deal reached this month on UK association to Horizon has rekindled hopes.
