Member states taking varied approaches to EU’s R&D missions

EU countries have adopted different governance structures and processes for missions, report finds

EU member states are taking varied approaches to the governance of the bloc’s research and innovation-based missions, a report has revealed.

Missions were introduced to the EU’s 2021-27 R&I funding programme, Horizon Europe, in an attempt to harness R&I to tackle societal challenges. Five have so far been launched, for cancer, climate change, healthy waters, smart cities and soil health.
