European Committee of the Regions stresses importance of place-based innovation

The EU’s geographical regions should be at the centre of its next research and innovation programme, local representatives across the bloc have said.

The European Committee of the Regions—the EU’s assembly of local and regional representatives—published recommendations on 31 January calling on the EU to recognise that regions play an increasingly important role in driving innovation.
