Missions require large-scale investment that cannot be made by EU alone, European Commission says

EU member states have been asked about their commitment to the bloc’s research and innovation-based missions, which are struggling to secure sufficient national funding.

The five missions were introduced in the EU’s Horizon Europe R&I programme in 2021, with the aim of coordinating and bolstering efforts to tackle urgent global challenges: climate change, cancer, ocean health, urban living and soil health.
