UK winners of European Research Council grants must still move countries to accept EU money

Germany, the UK and France have topped the list for hosting awards from the latest round of European Research Council Advanced Grants, with their institutions set to host 50, 42 and 37 of the 255 grants, respectively.

But the winners who sought to work in the UK will need to decide whether to move their ERC grant to another country or accept substitute funding from the national government, as the grants are from a 2023 funding call for which UK association to the EU’s Horizon Europe research funding programme was not yet in effect.
