Luciana Vaccaro says researchers have shied away from Switzerland—but Horizon talks could change that
With its idyllic mountains and world-renowned standards of living, Switzerland would seem a popular choice for any researcher to relocate to. But according to Luciana Vaccaro, president of the rectors’ association Swiss Universities, researcher immigration numbers have tailed off in recent years, while the country has been outside the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.
She says that while there are no solid numbers on researchers leaving the country “we have indications on people who did not come”.
