Final designs for SKA infrastructure approved

Plans for the roads, power and plumbing needed for building radio observatories in Australia and South Africa have been signed-off, paving the way for the construction phase.

The Square Kilometre Array’s headquarters announced on 25 February that its twin groundwork engineering teams had finished their five-year mission and would be disbanded.

However, members of both teams will continue to be involved in the cross-continental project as the SKA prepares for a review of its overall design in the coming months.
