Kumsal Bayazit has been appointed chief executive of Elsevier, the academic publishing and data analytics company.
Bayazit, who joined Elsevier’s parent company the RELX Group in 2004, took over from Ron Mobed as chief executive on 15 February, the company announced on the day. She is the first female head in the company’s 140-year history, Elsevier said.
Mobed, who has been chief executive since 2011, is planning to retire but will remain with the company until June to provide advice, it said.
