The soon-to-retire Jean-Claude Burgelman must be replaced somehow, observers say
The European Commission must replace and build on the open access envoy role that will become vacant this month, say supporters of open research.
Jean-Claude Burgelman (pictured) revealed to Research Europe that he will retire from the job at the end of February after just six months in the role, and return to an academic post at the Free University of Brussels.
