Publishers will have to adhere to one of two fee-disclosing frameworks by July 2022
The group of funders behind Plan S, who will demand that papers reporting work they have supported be published with open access from 2021, have announced that from July 2022 they will pay open-access fees only to publishers who adhere to one of two price-transparency frameworks.
Publishers will need to either provide a breakdown of their services and fees according to a guide developed by the nonprofit Fair Open Access Alliance or follow a transparency framework created by the consultancy Information Power.
