Government supporting bid for Barcelona home

The Spanish government is supporting a bid for Barcelona to host the new headquarters of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, alongside existing headquarters in Italy and the UK.

The headquarters would use the EU’s Copernicus Earth observation programme to monitor atmosphere and climate changes, and aim to predict natural emergencies, such as floods, fires and droughts.
