Institut Laue-Langevin head Helmut Schober given post amid ESS construction delays
The body overseeing the management of the European Spallation Source—an infrastructure for materials research being built in Lund, Sweden—has chosen experienced facility leader Helmut Schober to be the ESS’s next director general.
Schober (pictured), currently the director of the France-based Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL)—a once-leading neutron-beam facility much like the ESS, but now decades old—will start his new role on 1 November.
