Commission hopes that Destination Earth project will facilitate research on climate change
A €150 million digital model of the Earth is being created by European organisations in an attempt to boost research on climate change.
The Destination Earth initiative, launched on 30 March with money from the EU’s digital programme, will combine data, visualisations and services for researchers and other users. The European Commission said the project would “help monitor, model and predict natural and human activity, and develop and test scenarios for more sustainable development”.
