About 80 per cent of group’s supported research papers being made available with open access
The group of funders behind the Plan S open-access initiative have revealed that their researchers are complying with their headline policy to make papers freely available to read about 80 per cent of the time.
Under Plan S, a group of funders in Europe and around the world are requiring the researchers they support to make resulting papers available with open access, which entails rights to read and use them. The initiative is intended to speed the opening up of research, amid frustration that there have been decades of slow progress towards open access.
