Brazil joins Cern as an associate member state

Country is first in the Americas to join Europe’s organisation for nuclear research

In a first for the Americas, Brazil has joined Cern, the European organisation for nuclear research, as an associate member state.

Brazil’s research industry will now be able to bid for Cern contracts, “increasing opportunities for the country’s industrial collaboration in advanced technology”, the organisation announced on 22 March.
