European Space Agency says satellite should bolster climate change research

An Arctic Weather Satellite that should facilitate research into climate change is due to launch in June, the European Space Agency has announced.

Esa said on 4 April that the satellite is a “new prototype mission” intended to fill a gap in coverage of the Arctic by geostationary satellites, whose positioning over the equator limits their usefulness for monitoring the region.
