Satellite will probe climate impact of interplay between clouds, floating particles and solar radiation

A satellite has been launched to monitor the effect of clouds and aerosols on the Earth’s climate, as part of a joint initiative of the European and Japanese space agencies.

Launched just after midnight European time on 29 May, the Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer satellite has been successfully placed in orbit and will now be calibrated.
